Ikat is a textile art wherein patterns are created by resist dyeing cotton/silk yarn, before they are woven. It is a beautiful textile made up of complex patterns in a wide range of colors and motifs. The process of creating Ikat textiles is extremely difficult and tests skill of the dyer and the weaver. This form has prominent roots in many parts of India. Each part of India has its variety in Ikat, having regional differences, historical and cultural significance.
